Nothin Beats These Cleats

We joined a soccer team!
(But before I continue, let it be known
that I haven't played soccer since
about the 6th grade. Gulp.)

My sister Kylie and I set out to find
all the necessary soccer
equipment - cleats, shin guards and socks.
And oh, did we ever find them!

(Check out Drogba's ear!)

With a grand total of $2.50 I
am now the proud owner of a new-to-me, slightly
used pair of soccer cleats!

Keep On Dreaming

I was introduced to this poem today
during my language literacy (aka teaching kids to read) class.
Sometimes you stumble across something that
really sticks with you. This was
one of those stumblings.

Hold fast to dreams
For if dreams die
Life is a broken-winged bird
That cannot fly.
Hold fast to dreams
For when dreams go
Life is a barren field
Frozen with snow.

Langston Hughes

This poem is so hopeful. It focuses on the
negative - what happens if you let your dreams slip
away. But imagine the opposite. Life
would be beautiful.

¡Amo a mi marido!

After 4 fabulous months of wedded bliss
Collin and I got to spend a week at the
tip of the Baja Peninsula, down to mainland Mexico and
back through the Pacific Ocean
on our honeymoon!

Sweet Springtime

I am so happy to be back in the warm days!
Not that I don't appreciate all
weather. But there
is just something so special
about Springtime that
makes you want to run around
and sing
and eat chocolate Easter eggs
and wear sun dresses
and flip flops
and go for walks
and clean your house
and stuff.
And not to mention one of the
best spring words ever...
spring break!
Seriously, people should start calling this
"the most wonderful time of the year!"

A Runner's Dream

I have to confess, I've actually only ran
ONCE in the past 6 weeks
(Thank you bronchitis.)
But seriously, thanks. I haven't wanted to
go for a run THIS BAD
in a long time!

So I began searching for upcoming
races in my area to find something to train
for. And I stumbled across this
coolest site:

You can search by
state and find all the races in the area.
They have about a bazillion

P.S. Aren't these the coolest shoes ever?
